Let me start by saying that I've wanted to do a blog for awhile now. But as I am learning, having a baby doesn't make doing things that I WANT TO DO very easy. Everything takes planning, patience & the right timing. Rarely do I get a moment of ME time. So here I go keeping my fingers crossed that my neighbors can keep their loud son from sprinting across the living room floor while dropping what sounds like a 10 pound bowling ball every 5 seconds or so, and that my precious dog can refrain from barking at anything that moves while the baby naps. Ha! I swear Carter can sense when I am doing something for myself or need a few minutes because I just turned around to a pair of tiny eyes starting at me intently. So much for that!
I am in the process of learning how to balance being a mom, "wife", daughter, sister, clean, cook, do the laundry, take care of the baby, the dog, Mark, all the bills, finances, as well as making sure all of my relationships are well nourished & everything else that gets thrown my way!
Here's the short version of how I got to where I am today... Girl meets boy, falls head over heels in love with this boy, move to Colorado with him, have a baby & here we are :)
I have officially been a stay at home mom for 8 months. And let me tell you, it has been an adjustment. Life as I knew it went out the window the second I heard "It's a boy!!!" Life is now more beautiful than it's ever been, more stressful, more amazing & much more complicated. With all of that said I wouldn't trade a day of my life for all the tea in China ( a hot shower & 10 minutes to myself maybe... ) This is the life I have always wanted & I feel truly blessed for being able to live my dream.
Some days I'm happy, others I am cranky. Some days I don't get to take a shower until the evening. I normally don't have breakfast until noon. Spit up is my new eau de parfum. My hair is in a ponytail 90 percent of the time & if it is styled & down ALWAYS ends up in a pony. 4 out of 5 times when we are all ready & heading out the door Carter needs a diaper change. He makes the cutest little "ooohhhh" noises when he wakes up & smiles all the time. He sneezes with a mouth full of yogurt & coughs with a mouth full of peas. He loves to take baths & splashes all the water out of the tub. He laughs so hard at the Beggin' Strips commercial & pretty much anything our dog, Marley, does. He snuggles up to me & melts my heart everyday.
He started "army" crawling on Christmas. Rolling is more his thing. He can roll so fast & get anywhere he wants to. Now it's a combo of both. He gets up on all fours & cracks up. We aren't sure if he will ever actually crawl like normal. He also started to cut his 1st tooth. I cried. I'm extremely emotional since I had him. It is going to be so weird to see him with teeth.
So here it is. For anyone who cares to read of the trials & tribulations of being a new mommy & the funny things that happen along the way all while trying to keep my sanity!
